Once again, the Warm Springs Watershed Association has been awarded a $5000.00 Stream Partners grant.
Funds from this grant will be used by WSWA to improve the riparian buffer by planting 100 trees on three adjacent lots of privately-owned land located in the floodplain of Warm Springs Run. The area to be planted is on the west side of US Route 522, between the Dairy Queen and Winchester Grade Road.
In an effort to further educate the public about the importance of trees in helping to reduce the severity of flooding, we will also create and erect 6 36’x48’ signs to be placed on each side of US Route 522 in the area where we plant the trees.
Finally, we will also have t-shirts made to give to new members. We hope these shirts, designed by local artist Mary Klotz, will make people more aware of the existence of the Run, as well as to see the value of the Run to the larger community.
