The local team that responded to the heating oil spill in Warm Springs Run in October, 2014 was recognized by the WV Dept of Environmental Protection, who awarded them an Environmental Award of Excellence. Receiving the award in Charleston on June 25 were Scott Crunkleton (Warm Springs Public Service District manager), Monty Kerns (wastewater plant operator), Vince Cichocki (Morgan county facilities director), Jami Clark (Berkeley Springs Fire Chief), Bobby Madison (firefighter), and Marshall Younker (Berkeley Springs Deputy Fire Chief). Terrance Cross (waste water plant operator) was not at the ceremony. The award was for the efforts of the three local agencies that worked to contain and cleanup the spill: sewer, fire and county facilites.
